Uptime and content
HTTP checks with expected status codes plus content assertions, so a hacked, blanked, or half-broken page fails the check even when it still returns 200.

PageLantern for agencies
An agency's monitoring problem is multiplication: thirty clients means thirty sites, thirty certificates, thirty domains, and thirty owners who should hear about their problem from you — not the other way around. PageLantern keeps the whole client book in one workspace without losing track of whose site is whose.
One workspace
The monitoring dashboard groups monitors by domain, so each client's site collapses into one row with its checks underneath — the fleet view stays scannable at fifty monitors, not just at five. Tags layer on top of that for the way your agency actually thinks: tag monitors by client, by retainer tier, by hosting provider, or by the team that owns them, then filter the worktable and read per-tag uptime rollups in the tag console.
When a client leaves or a site is rebuilt, tags and monitors move with a few clicks — there is no per-client account juggling, and your team works from one login.
Per site
A client site needs more than a ping. These are the checks agencies set up per site — most of them included on the Free plan, all of them on Starter.
HTTP checks with expected status codes plus content assertions, so a hacked, blanked, or half-broken page fails the check even when it still returns 200.
Certificate renewals fail quietly and clients notice loudly. Expiry warnings across the whole book of clients, from one screen.
The classic agency nightmare — a client's domain lapses because the renewal email went to an inbox nobody reads. RDAP expiry checks warn while there is still time.
On paid plans, hosted browser checks walk contact forms, logins, and checkout flows in a real browser and keep screenshots as evidence for the client conversation.
On paid plans, DNS checks catch records changed at the registrar or host — the "the old developer still had access" class of surprise.
Per client
Alert destinations are set per monitor, so each client's checks can point at their own channel: the client-services Slack channel for one account, a shared inbox for another, a webhook into your PSA for a third. Channels cover email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, webhooks, and PagerDuty, with 1 channel on Free, 5 on Starter, and unlimited channels on Team — plus 50 to 200 SMS a month on paid plans for the sites that justify waking someone.
Notification rules keep the noise down fleet-wide: thresholds, quiet hours, and reminder intervals mean two consecutive failures page you, one blip does not.
Client trust
Each status page reflects the monitors you choose, so a client-facing page shows that client's services and nothing else. Pages carry your logo and brand colour, publish incident updates and maintenance windows, and support email subscribers — hosted by PageLantern at a shareable URL. Free includes 1 page, Starter 3, and Team 10. To be straight about the limits: pages are not white-label — they live on our domain, with your branding on the page.
For the monthly retainer conversation, history is the evidence: 30 days on Free, 90 on Starter, and a year on Team, with CSV/JSON exports on paid plans and recurring reliability reports plus a full audit log on Team.

FAQ
Two mechanisms layer together: the monitoring table groups monitors by domain automatically, so each client site reads as one row, and tags let you slice the fleet the way your agency thinks — by client, retainer tier, hosting provider, or owner — with per-tag uptime rollups and filtering in the tag console.
Yes. Alert destinations are configured per monitor, so one client's checks can alert a dedicated Slack channel while another's go to a shared inbox or a webhook into your ticketing system. Free includes 1 channel, Starter 5, and Team unlimited, across email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, webhooks, and PagerDuty.
Yes. Status pages are public, hosted pages scoped to the monitors you choose, so a client-facing page shows only that client's services. Pages carry your logo and brand colour, support incident updates, maintenance windows, and email subscribers. They are hosted at a pagelantern.com URL — branded, but not white-label.
No, and we would rather say so plainly: pages display your logo and brand colour but live at a PageLantern-hosted URL, and custom domains are not offered today. If fully white-label pages are a hard requirement, we are the wrong tool for that piece; for everything else in the agency workflow, the branded hosted page covers the client conversation.
Monitor history is retained 30 days on Free, 90 days on Starter, and 1 year on Team. Paid plans export history as CSV/JSON, and Team adds recurring reliability reports and a full audit log — enough to answer "how did the site do this quarter" with numbers rather than memory.
Free covers 15 monitors at 5-minute checks; Starter ($9/month) covers 50 monitors at 1-minute checks; Team ($24/month) covers 500 monitors with 30-second checks on 25 critical ones. A typical client site uses two to four monitors (uptime, SSL, domain, and a form or flow), so Starter comfortably carries a boutique agency's book.
